What do people usually wear pheasant and other gamebird hunting?

New hunter here. What does one usually wear gamebird hunting, or pheasant hunting in particular? I notice wal-mart has “upland game shirts”/”upland vests” for sale (tan color with safety orange patches). Is this the norm? Would I look like a complete idiot if I wore some deer hunting garb?
